By using The Shelf ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The Shelf is a personal book-tracking and reading-recommendation app operated by Flos Artis. It lets you catalog your reading, import libraries from other services, and receive AI-generated recommendations and book information. The app is provided for personal, non-commercial use.
You may sign in using Google. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. You may also use the app as a guest, in which case your data is stored only in your browser.
You agree not to misuse the app — including attempting to disrupt or overload it, accessing it through automated means beyond normal use, reverse-engineering it, or using it for any unlawful purpose.
The reading data you add or import remains yours. By using the app, you grant us permission to store and process that data as needed to operate the app and its features, as described in the Privacy Policy.
The app's recommendations, "prose previews", book scores, and similar features are generated by AI. They are provided for informational purposes and may be inaccurate or incomplete. "Prose previews" are AI-generated approximations of an author's style and are not excerpts from any actual book. Please do not rely on AI-generated content as authoritative.
The app depends on third-party services (including Supabase, Anthropic, Google, and Vercel) and displays book covers and metadata sourced from third parties. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services. Book titles, cover images, and related material are the property of their respective owners.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data will be retained indefinitely. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the app at any time.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the app.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
